KOKSIJDE - From now on, every now and then I'll post something about women that inspire me. I don't know how or who will come up next, but first in line is wildlife photographer Carole Deschuymere. We met seven years ago, I was looking for a studentjob and stumbled upon the clothing store 'Azur' -which she owns-. Only sixteen years old and dressed in a red jacket with a faux fur collar, I entered the store. I introduced myself, and I started the next day. Since that moment, we saw each other grow on a lot of levels. She told me about her passions, I told her about mine. Like two peas in a pod, we found each other. But how does she inspire me? Carole always had a passion for photography, but never knew how to translate it. Four years ago she went on a trip to Africa, and then reality slapped her. In that moment, she knew it, she would become a wildlife photographer. And so she did. She found her passion and made things happen. For me, that is inpsiration in its purest form. I admire people who pursue their dreams and just go for it. The following years she continued to travel to Africa. First with a guide, now she faces the wildernis alone. One time, she woke up while a hyena was sniffing her face, and all she did was enjoy that magical moment. AC/DC mentioned it in a song, and she has them. Balls. She's got balls!
You can admire her artwork until the 21st of april in the Keunekapelle in Sint-Idesbald, Koksijde.
