KOKSIJDE - From now on, every now and then I'll post something about women that inspire me. I don't know how or who will come up next, but first in line is wildlife photographer Carole Deschuymere. We met seven years ago, I was looking for a studentjob and stumbled upon the clothing store 'Azur' -which she owns-. Only sixteen years old and dressed in a red jacket with a faux fur collar, I entered the store. I introduced myself, and I started the next day. Since that moment, we saw each other grow on a lot of levels. She told me about her passions, I told her about mine. Like two peas in a pod, we found each other. But how does she inspire me? Carole always had a passion for photography, but never knew how to translate it. Four years ago she went on a trip to Africa, and then reality slapped her. In that moment, she knew it, she would become a wildlife photographer. And so she did. She found her passion and made things happen. For me, that is inpsiration in its purest form. I admire people who pursue their dreams and just go for it. The following years she continued to travel to Africa. First with a guide, now she faces the wildernis alone. One time, she woke up while a hyena was sniffing her face, and all she did was enjoy that magical moment. AC/DC mentioned it in a song, and she has them. Balls. She's got balls!

You can admire her artwork until the 21st of april in the Keunekapelle in Sint-Idesbald, Koksijde.

Opening Julia June

GHENT - Dry gin, wet throat. Meeting other bloggers, super dope! Yesterday I was invited to the Julia June opening. The store is located at Brabantdam 8 in Ghent. It used to be a bakery but is now transformed into a fabulous store. The atmosphere was as amazing as the clothes. I'll certainly return when I'm on a spending spree. Wallet, you are warned.

Model and DJ Amélie Lens, took care of the music.

Tiany Kiriloff was there too, and she likes to cover up her Iphone with a bag of French fries. Are you lovin' it?

Couldn't resist to add some images of the Filliers dry Gin. Don't know if it was the hot bartender or the gin, but it tasted soo good!.

Colette exists one year!

BELSELE - Yesterday the Colette store in Belsele celebrated her one year existence and I was invited to celebrate this milestone. While entering the store, different brands of bags and shoes were displayed. The brands vary from Emmy Wieleman to Coccinelle while the style remains classic chic. In the back of the store there were different kind of sweets -think macarons- and bubbly drinks. But the one thing that really caught my attention was a red Karmann Ghia, that my lovelies, is a very nice car. Tarantino used this car in Kill Bill II. Yes, hell yes!

Huray Hurah! I even held a tiger shaped balloon. On this photo you can see the Emmy Wieleman bag I got as a present.

These shoes were specially designed for the store, which is kinda cool.

And if shopping gets too tiring, you can always sit back and relax.

American Hustle movie review

BRUSSELS - I was invited to the American Hustle press release. It's a movie about love -what else- and corruption, played in a seventies atmosphere. The main actors are: Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremey Renner and... Louis C.K.! I laughed so hard when I saw him on screen. I wasn't expecting to see him at all, hilarious. As you can see, a topcast, what can actually go wrong when you put those people together? Right. That's exactly what director David O. Russel thought. And it was a brilliant decision. During the whole movie I was intrigued, that seldom happens. The seventies atmosphere was extremely well created, Michael Wilkinson, the costume designer, played a big role in this. He draped the women in killer backless dresses with deep V's and fur, lots of it. He gave the men typical seventies suits, pinky rings and groovy glasses. Watching American Hustle makes me want to wear more backless dresses and deep V's. A deep V is something that you don't see anymore, that's a pity because it is so beautiful. It is elegant and sexy at the same time. At least, if your boobs don't fall out but then again, a boobflash now and then never hurt anybody. I firmly believe that you should wear whatever you like, but don't go all trashy because that's just nasty. Find the balance between elegant and sexy, and you're set. Here are a few photos to bring you in the mood, American Hustle will be in Belgian theaters the 12th of february. A movie definitely worth seeing!
